Hey I'm James aka Man Over Mars aka MOM...yes people call me mom. Anyway I've been an artist all my life and I don't mean I liked to color a lot as a kid, even though I did. What I mean is that I started getting paid to make art very young. I would do paintings in the local grocery store windows for holidays and stuff for the  high school when I was still in junior high. When I was 11 I was even disqualified from state fair art competition because the judges literally did not believe I did the drawing I turned in. I instantly took this as the highest complement I could receive.

After high school I attended Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio from 2001 - 2005. I received a BFA in illustration with a minor in art history. I believe within the first month of graduating I packed up my things, moved to California and told no one until I got there. It might not have been the smartest idea but I needed to go where the art jobs were. I had private art school type student loans and even with more than a year paid for in scholarships drastic times call for drastic measures.

Since landing in Cali I've been very busy working as full time as graphic designer/illustrator for companies and part time freelancing like an animal for hundreds of clients around the world.

I can be found just hanging out on my twitch channel twitch.tv/manovermars doing artwork (and video game speed runs). I still freelance constantly and setting new goals to achieve. A big one of mine would be to get into the game industry doing concept art. Drawing all day making more of the things I love...sounds like the life.
